I was out and about shopping the other day and I was looking at the array of selection boxes and it made me think of a bento box.  If you’re unfamiliar with the term it’s like a segmented lunch box and its great fun picking out a variety of foods to go in it.  This is my version for the festive season with chocolate in of course!

Instructions:

Base:  Cardstock 9½” x 9″ scored on each side at ¾”and 1″. Remove the 3 outside squares on each corner as shown in the picture below and notch out the tab.

Also take a slither from each side of the rectangle on each edge.

Add adhesive to the square tabs and glue your base together.  Add glue to the rectangles and fold them inwards.

Lid: Cardstock 7 9/16 ” x 7 ⅟16″.  Score at ¾” on all sides. Cut down the score lines and notch out as in the picture below.

Add Designer series paper to the outside of your lid. You will need one piece 5¾” x 5¼”, two pieces at 5¾” x ½” and two pieces at 5¼” x ½”.

Add adhesive to the square tabs and make up your lid.  Tip – sit the base inside your lid and build around it to ensure the perfect fit.

I’ve added dividers to mine for the specific chocolate I bought.  These are all multipack items bought in the supermarket.  I did this in three sections:

  • The one on the left is cardstock cut at 5½” x 2½” scored on the short side at 1¼” and 1⅞”.
  • The second piece is the remining vertical bars: cardstock cut at 7⅛” x 4¼” scored on the long side at 1¼”, 1⅞” 2½”, 4″, 4⅝”and 5¼”.
  • The vertical piece at the top is 4⅜” x 2½” scored on the short side at 1¼” and 1⅞”.

Concertina the pieces at the folds to make the diving sections as in the photo below and glue them to the inside of your box.

I then attached a bow and a tag to the outside of my lid, added the chocolates and its done.  Some family members young and a little older will appreciate these.

NOTE: Sadly the Designer Series Paper that I used here has now sold out but you can use whatever you have left from your festive crafting.

Thanks for popping by.
